This past week has been endowed with particularly amazing lessons, from Thanksgiving, to Healthy Habits, Keeping Safe, Time for Everything, Fruit of the Holy Spirit, Taking Initiative and my personal favorite, Learning Things that are Right (through reading God’s word).
I Ask For Help | I Pray
Jesus in John 14:13-14 teaches that He will do whatever we ask of Him in His name. In this lesson, we are taught to pray/ask for help to learn things that are right. We are expected to learn this things that are right from reading God’s word, the Bible.
I don’t know what right things we each need to learn from God’s word during this time/season. Whatever it is for you, pray that God helps you to, read, focus, learn and put it to action.
Action, Focus, Read, Learn
How did you fill the gaps in your prayer?
As I started to study this lesson, I did notice the 4 words written on the top left corner of the page. What I didn’t realize is that I’d need to use them later on in the lesson.
So when I got to the part of the lesson which had a prayer with gaps to be filled, I filled them with my own words. It was until I talked to Uncle Paul (which was way after I had read the lesson) that I realized that the four words at the top left corner of the page were clues for what to fill in the gaps.
So here’s how my prayer went;
“Dear Jesus, help me as I read your Word, to listen without distractions. Help me to understand and to follow what you want to teach me from it. Then help me to put it into practice as I go through my day. Amen”
The reasons why I loved this lesson most are:-
- It helped me pray for help to read God’s Word, focus as I read, learn from it take action (on what I learn).
- It helped me realize that I not only need to learn but also act on what I had learnt.
- I learnt how to ask for help from God.
- And I really enjoyed filling out the gaps in the prayer.
Did you notice the clue at the top left corner of the page?
How did you fill the gaps in your prayer, what were your four words?
