The mood in my house this morning quickly became tense when one of the Kenyans called by my name deliberately repeated a felony we have warned and talked about twice before…… actually thrice.
My response was swift and firm, the aftermath of which was lots of tears and anguish which is not what I want for my child on a Monday morning …… yet choices have consequences.
There was pin drop silence in the car when I got in to drop them off to school and was pleasantly surprised when my firstborn son broke the silence just as we started our three minutes drive to their school and asked, “Dad, did you take time to go through yesterday’s devotion?”
To which I answered “Yes” and just like that, the air conditioning…. or is it climate or atmosphere….. in the car changed as we all spontaneously started to contribute lessons we’d picked from yesterday’s devotion.
The three minutes drive was over before we could all barely share what we’d learned but the excitement in the car was palpable.
And as we pulled into the school gate , we made a deal to finish the review later this evening.
From the rear view mirror, I spotted an eager face devoid of any tears from the citizen of heaven to whom painful love had been meted on just a few minutes earlier.
Now I am here writing this as I look forward to some nice discussions from yesterday’s and today’s mini moments with God devotional this evening.
